From September 11 to 15, 2019, the third edition of the Santander Sea Festival is held, organized by the Villas del Cantabrico Foundation. The first edition took place in 2005, on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the granting of the title of town to Santander. The main objective of the Festival del Mar is to promote the construction of a Training ship through which to bring the world of the sea closer to the population.
The Santander Sea Festival is a celebration of the sea and navigation. It was the first maritime festival in Spain of tall ships and a benchmark for many Spanish cities that have followed suit and have opted to recover their heritage and nautical and maritime tradition.
This festival could not have a better scenario than the Bay of Santander, included in the Club of “The most beautiful bays in the world”. For centuries, this city was one of the most important scenarios of maritime activity in the world.
